The Recycling Market Development Zone (RMDZ) program combines recycling with economic development to fuel new businesses, expand existing ones, create jobs and divert non-hazardous waste from landfills. The program creates a three-way partnership between the Chamber, local government and the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle).
Essential to this program is the participation of recycling-based businesses; businesses that create usable products from materials otherwise destined for the landfills. These businesses help divert resources from landfills, create a recycling market, and offer a “closed-loop” system by offering recycled products to consumers.
The RMDZ program provides low-interest loans, technical assistance, and free product marketing to eligible companies.
